For Ruddington horticulturists who enjoy showing others what we’ve grown, whether at home or in our allotment, September is always keenly anticipated.
It’s the month when green-fingered residents of all ages gather for the annual ‘Village Horticultural Show’ organised by Ruddington Gardeners’ Association (RGA). This year it’s happening on Saturday 16th September in St Peter’s Rooms and entry is still FREE for everyone. As usual it’s open to the public from 11.00am to 4.00pm with staging of exhibits from 8.00am to 9.30am and judging from 9.30 to 11.00am.
RGA’s Mike Davey says: “Please support the show to enable us to fill St Peter’s Rooms with a stunning and colourful display of vegetables, flowers and other produce. All children participating will receive a prize.”
Gardening classes include vegetables, fruit, flowers, pot plants and succulents.
Children can enter an animal made from vegetables and/or fruit, a painting of flowers, a decorated wooden spoon, a miniature garden on a plate or an article made from recycled materials.
There are categories for Preserves and Baking, Photography and Craft & Art Work, too.
There’ll also be plant sales, WI refreshments, Nottingham Country Markets, Nottinghamshire Bee Keepers and stalls by local groups.
Full show schedules and entry forms are available right now – both on the RGA website >>HERE<< and as a hard copy from St Peter’s Rooms.
